Summary: Design and detailing of air cooled heat exchangers involving mechanical design and fabrication details by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Detail air-cooled heat exchangers for shop fabrication.
- Prepare shop detail drawings, including bundle assemblies, plenums, columns, ladders and platforms.
- Communicate with mechanical design engineers and shop personnel.
- General knowledge of welded steel fabrication practices.
- Drafting skills – 3D assembly and part modeling, 2D parts drawings and flat patterns
- Computer skills must include Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Familiar with American Petroleum Institute 661.
- Familiar with OSHA requirements regarding walkways, handrails, stairs and equipment guards.
- Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on–site, ability to work overtime.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of either:
- High School Diploma or GED Certification with Fundamentals and Principles of CAD Design classes and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in heat exchanger and/or structural steel drafting;
- Associate’s degree in CAD Drafting and Design with a minimum of one (1) year experience in structural steel fabrication drafting.
Must have one (1) year experience in 3D modeling (Inventor preferred).
Preferably, the candidate would have an Associate’s degree, 3+ years’ experience in heat exchanger and/or structural steel detailing, and experience with AutoDesk Inventor.
